Subcontract Agreement

A Subcontractor Agreement or Subcontract Agreement is a very useful legal document that allows one contractor (the “Contractor”) to hire another contractor (the “Subcontractor”) to undertake a portion of work for the main Contractor. This agreement is usually used when the Contractor has already entered into an agreement, referred to as the Prime Agreement or the Independent Contractor Agreement, with another party to perform specific work.

This is a very common type of arrangement and it is absolutely necessary for both parties to have a written contract which outlines the scope of work, fees and payment, and provisions in the event of non-payment or incomplete or substandard work.
